| This single story 85,000 square foot reuse and remodel consist of an existing manufacturing facility composed of four concrete tilt up structures, constructed over a nine year period in the 1960's. The challenge was to create an atmosphere and physical environment that would transform an old warehouse structure into a learning environment. The design team defined elements of " Campus" and injected them into the concrete shell enclosure. A main street promenade and campus quad were developed as the facilities organizer, both in circulation and architectural events, to promote the interaction between students and faculty. The new exterior enables the environment to reposition the exterior's industrial context to be compatible with the ideas of campus life and the educational process. The project informs future development regarding the use of old-structures to new-uses. |
