| This 10-acre park is inhabited by four-acre, butterfly-shaped man-made lakes, creating a focal point for the entire 543-acre mixed-use community. An undulating pedestrian promenade covered by a 750’ long by 16’ wide garden armature of bamboo, concrete, and steel runs between the two lakes and connects the retail center to other programmatic parts of the 121-acre urban complex. A 100’-long section of the walkway spans a central nine-foot high waterfall. At the southern end of the lakes, the garden armature curves around to embrace a 440-seat amphitheater and welcome visitors from the retail areas. The landscaping surrounding the lakes is rich in variety and detail while remaining subservient to the lake themselves. Inside the circular pedestrian path, the lakes are framed by variegated and multi-chromatic bands of landscaping. The bands change dynamically as one walks around the lakes and throughout the year in foliage, color, texture, and flower color. |
