| This is a 1,500 square foot retail tenant improvement at South Coast Plaza for Paul Frank Industries. The client wanted an open, inviting, and flexible space that would reflect the quirky, relaxed, beach orientation of the product line.
The space is divided in two, with the right side allowing for freedom and movement and the left side being more controlled and precise, yet still keeping a sense of movement. The right wall is curved at the bottom and made of Douglas fir. Its displays are ever-changing and unpredictable, much like an ocean wave. The left side of the store is organized on a grid system with movable MDF shelving units and glass shelves that conceal drawers filled with merchandise.
The entire contents of the store can be seen from the outside, including Paul Frank's signature character, Julius the Monkey, who appears in various forms throughout the space.
