| The Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for the La Jolla Playhouse and UCSD Department of Theatre and Dance consists of a 450-seat Black Box Theatre (Potiker Theatre), 3 Classroom/Rehearsal Spaces, Outdoor Public Spaces, Restaurant, Technical and Storage Support Spaces and a permanent artistic and administrative home for the Playhouse. This facility acts as an experimental laboratory for artists and educators and a state-of-the-art, fully flexible teaching and performance facility and interaction venue for ideas and community interface. The goal is to give the Theatre District a coherent identity as a bridge to the University and community and to restore the park and grove and create a court that unifies the 3 theatres in the district. |
